Gwen Stefani‘s ex-husband Gavin Rossdale is not blocking her ability to marry Blake Shelton, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It’s totally fabricated.
According to the National Enquirer, the No Doubt singer wants her ex to agree to have their 13-year marriage annulled so she can marry Shelton in the Catholic Church, but he refuses to go along with it. The Catholic Church won’t officiate a marriage after a divorce unless the initial marriage is deemed invalid, but an alleged source tells the outlet that Rossdale “refuses to say their marriage never existed.”
The supposed source further contends the rocker “went ballistic” when he learned that Stefani had applied for an annulment, and “isn’t going to pretend he wasn’t married just because it makes Gwen’s life easier.” The questionable tipster goes on to say Rossdale finds the whole situation to be “wrong and stupid,” but now the ex-couple’s three sons “are caught in the middle of this ongoing war.” RadarOnline also posted a version of this bogus story on its website.
This phony narrative first kicked off in March when the Enquirer claimed Stefani was begging Pope Francis to annul her first marriage so she could have a Catholic wedding. The article was based on the word of an anonymous source, but the singer’s own spokesperson told us on the record it was made-up. Stefani never asked the Pope to have her first marriage wiped clean.
With its latest article, the tabloid is attempting to stir up more nonexistent drama by alleging Rossdale is putting up a fight. Only, Stefani hasn’t applied for an annulment and her ex-husband isn’t combating a plan that hasn’t been put into action. This is a non-issue. An individual close to the situation assures us this latest take on the subject is more nonsense.
It should be noted, Gossip Cop busted the magazine a few months ago for falsely claiming Stefani and Shelton were getting married at her home in Los Angeles and having a baby through a surrogate. This latest article makes no mention of those scenarios, neither of which have panned out.
Last December, Gossip Cop called out the publication for wrongly reporting Stefani and Shelton had a secret wedding in Nevada. The tabloid’s various articles about the couple are contradictory and inconsistent. It’s clear the unreliable outlet simply has zero insight into their relationship, and this latest premise involving an annulment is another example.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
