A story claiming a supposed feud between Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia was ended by Chrissy Metz is fake news. Gossip Cop can bust the claims. As we already reported months ago, there was no feud between the “This Is Us” stars to begin with.
In January, RadarOnline falsely claimed Moore and Ventimiglia were feuding on the “This Is Us” set. The blame was largely put on the actor, who was said to be “melancholy and not cheerful,” thereby alienating Moore and the rest of their co-stars. “She may just be reaching her breaking point,” a so-called “source” claimed of the actress. Gossip Cop rightly busted the tale, pointing out what fans could see for themselves: The cast was a family off-screen, just as they were on-screen, as evidenced by behind-the-scenes videos. We also highlighted an Instagram post from Moore, in which she celebrated Ventimiglia’s birthday, calling him the “greatest tv husband (and let’s be honest, greatest guy in general).”
Now more than eight months after our debunking, the site is announcing the nonexistent feud is over. “Just like their married characters, ‘This Is Us’ stars Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia had a tumultuous relationship — that is, until their onscreen daughter Chrissy Metz ended the feud,” contends the blog. Notably, the reasons given here for the purported dispute differ from what was peddled earlier this year.
“The feud started because Milo was basically handed his role by producers while Mandy had to test and audition and fight for hers. Milo had a much easier road, and Mandy resented it,” a so-called “source” is quoted as saying. None of that was mentioned in the original article, and it isn’t even true. More than a year ago, the “This Is Us” casting director did an interview about the process, and confirmed Ventimiglia had to read for the role. Around the same time, Ventimiglia himself discussed his audition for a Variety feature, and revealed he wasn’t even the first choice for the part.
Following this flub, the website continues its bogus assertions by claiming that “after two full seasons, the TV couple have called a truce, thanks to happily meddling Metz.” Alleges the questionable tipster, “It’s taken them two years to come to terms with all of this, and that’s happened because of the bond they both have with Chrissy. Chrissy reminded them success is a group effort, and to stop bickering and be nice.”
But the outlet has no proof that Moore and Ventimiglia were ever “bickering,” just as it never had real evidence that he was aloof and withdrawn from his colleagues, as claimed in the first piece. But what has been apparent all along is the bond between them, with Ventimiglia even revealing in March that he and Moore watch the episodes together. And in July, Moore once again celebrated his birthday on Instagram, saying, “As remarkable as Jack Pearson is, this guy is even better.”
She went on, “Happy Birthday, @miloanthonyventimiglia. Our job is so much fun because we get to do it together. Can’t wait to get back to it.” Quite clearly, there was never any relationship problem for Metz to fix. But maybe RadarOnline should find someone to fix its wrong reporting.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
