One of this week’s tabloids claims Bradley Cooper was “crushed” over losing the acting and directing awards for
A Star Is Born at the Golden Globes. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story, which further alleges the actor’s night was ruined by the snub. The report simply isn’t true.
A Star Is Born was nominated for several awards at the Golden Globes, but it only managed to take home the win for Best Original Song. Cooper lost Best Actor to Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek, whose Queen biopic beat out A Star Is Born for Best Drama. He also lost the award for Best Director to Roma filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron. A supposed source tells OK! that Cooper “felt like a fool” following the ceremony as everyone had told him “he was a shoo-in” to sweep the awards.
According to the alleged insider, Cooper’s night got even worse because his girlfriend, Irina Shayk, “looked miserable and annoyed the entire time. It really put a damper on things.” The magazine’s questionable tipster adds, “Bradley wanted to let loose with Lady Gaga and the rest of his peers, but he couldn’t because Irina was being surly. Overall, it was a terrible night.”
None of this is remotely accurate. For starters, Cooper praised both Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody following the Golden Globes. At the National Board of Review awards gala last week, “Entertainment Tonight” asked the actor his reaction to the outcome of the ceremony. Cooper responded, “I’m a huge fan of [Bohemian Rhapsody producer] Graham King, and he worked so hard, so I’m so happy for him. And Rami Malek is an incredible actor.”
The idea that the actor’s girlfriend added to his so-called “terrible night” isn’t true either. In reality, Cooper and Shayk showed a lot of PDA at the Golden Globes. Not only did the couple hold hands and smile while walking the red carpet, but the model was later photographed fixing Cooper’s tie at their table. Shayk was also spotted putting her hand on her boyfriend’s leg and resting her head on his shoulder during the ceremony. Just two days later, Shayk accompanied Cooper to the National Board of Review awards gala.
Last week, OK!‘s sister publication, In Touch, made up a story about Gaga and Shayk getting into a fight over Cooper at the Golden Globes. No such incident occurred. This latest article surrounding the actor’s reaction at the awards show is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
